Morocco Battle Back to Beat Haiti 4-2 and Advance

Morocco booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 after a thrilling 4-2 win over Haiti. The final Group C match had six goals and many big moments. In the end, Morocco stayed calm and finished second in the group.

Morocco Start Slowly Against Haiti

Morocco entered the match knowing that a win would send them through. However, Haiti did not make it easy. Although Haiti had already been knocked out, they started with energy and belief.

In the 10th minute, Haiti took a shock lead. A messy moment in the box ended with Yassine Bounou scoring an own goal. As a result, Haiti went 1-0 ahead.

After that, Morocco pushed forward. They kept the ball well and created several chances. However, they missed the final touch in front of goal.

Hakimi Brings Morocco Back

Morocco finally found the equalizer in the 39th minute. Achraf Hakimi stepped up at the right time. The captain joined the attack and finished well to make it 1-1.

However, Haiti replied almost at once. In the 43rd minute, Wilson Isidor scored with a brilliant long-range shot. The ball flew past Bounou and gave Haiti a 2-1 lead.

Saibari Makes History

Still, Morocco did not panic. In first-half stoppage time, Ismael Saibari scored the equalizer. His goal made it 2-2 before the break.

Furthermore, Saibari made history with that goal. He became the first African player to score in all three group-stage games at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Therefore, Morocco entered halftime with belief. The score was level, but they had the momentum.

Morocco Take Control After the Break

In the second half, Morocco played with more control. They kept the ball, moved it faster, and pushed Haiti deeper.

In the 78th minute, Morocco took the lead for the first time. Soufiane Rahimi scored from a set-piece situation to make it 3-2.

After that, Morocco managed the match better. They slowed the game down when needed and stayed compact without the ball.

Then, in the 89th minute, Gessime Yassine sealed the win. His goal was first checked for offside. However, VAR confirmed it was valid. As a result, Morocco won 4-2.

Morocco Finish Second in Group C

With this win, Morocco ended the group stage with seven points. They had the same number of points as Brazil. However, Brazil finished first because of better tiebreakers.

Even so, Morocco achieved their main goal. They reached the Round of 16 and kept their World Cup dream alive.

On the other hand, Haiti left the tournament with three defeats. Still, they showed heart in their final game. They scored twice against a strong Morocco team and gave fans a proud performance.

Morocco Look Ready for the Knockout Stage

Morocco now move into the knockout stage with confidence. Their attack looks sharp, and several key players are in good form.

Hakimi gave the team leadership and quality. Saibari continued his great scoring run. Rahimi also proved he can deliver in big moments.

However, Morocco still need to improve in defense. They conceded two goals against Haiti, and stronger teams may punish those mistakes.
