Gen.G vs HLE: First Grand Final Spot on the Line
The biggest match on September 5 will feature Gen.G against Hanwha Life Esports in the Upper Bracket Final.
Gen.G enter the series in excellent form. After earning a direct place in Round 2 because of their previous results, they quickly showed their strength with a dominant 3-0 victory over KT Rolster on September 1.
More importantly, Gen.G did not simply win the series. Instead, their control throughout the BO5 showed why they remain one of the strongest favorites to win the LCK 2026 championship.
HLE, however, had a much tougher route.
They needed all five games to overcome T1 on September 2. Nevertheless, HLE eventually secured a dramatic 3-2 victory and kept their upper-bracket run alive.
As a result, Hanwha Life are now only one BO5 victory away from reaching the LCK 2026 Grand Final.
Most importantly, the winner of Gen.G vs HLE will advance directly to the Grand Final on September 13. The loser, however, will still have another opportunity in the Lower Bracket Final.
Therefore, while elimination is not immediately on the line, the stakes remain extremely high.

T1 vs DK on September 6: A Must-Win Lower Bracket Battle
While Gen.G vs HLE is a battle for an advantage, T1 vs DK on September 6 carries a very different meaning.
This is an elimination series. Therefore, the losing team will see its LCK 2026 Playoffs journey come to an immediate end.
T1 have already experienced a difficult playoff run. Faker and his teammates opened their campaign with a five-game battle against BNK FEARX. Eventually, T1 secured a narrow 3-2 victory and advanced to Round 2.
However, another five-game series followed against HLE.
This time, T1 could not finish the job. Instead, HLE claimed the deciding game and won 3-2, sending T1 into the lower bracket.
DK, meanwhile, have experienced an even more dramatic journey.
They suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat against KT Rolster in Round 1. Consequently, DK immediately found themselves fighting for survival.
However, they responded strongly.
First, DK defeated BFX 3-2 on September 3. Then, only one day later, they earned revenge against KT Rolster with an impressive 3-1 victory.
As a result, DK remain alive and will now face T1 for a place in the Lower Bracket Final.
Considering the elimination stakes, T1 vs DK could become one of the most exciting BO5 series of the entire LCK 2026 Playoffs.

LCK 2026 Lower Bracket Final Set for September 12
After the key matches on September 5 and 6, the LCK 2026 Playoffs will take a short break. Then, the competition will return on September 12 with the Lower Bracket Final.
The loser of Gen.G vs HLE will face the winner of T1 vs DK.
As a result, several exciting scenarios remain possible.
For example, fans could see another battle between HLE and T1. Alternatively, DK could continue their lower-bracket run and challenge either Gen.G or HLE.
Regardless of the matchup, however, the pressure will be enormous.
At this stage, there will be no second chance. The winner advances to the Grand Final, while the loser is eliminated from the championship race.
Therefore, the Lower Bracket Final could become one of the most important matches of the entire season.
LCK 2026 Grand Final Takes Place on September 13
According to the current LCK 2026 Playoffs schedule, the Grand Final will take place at 3:00 PM Vietnam time on September 13.
The Upper Bracket Final winner will have a major advantage. In particular, that team will have more time to rest, study its potential opponent, and prepare strategies for the championship series.
Meanwhile, the other finalist will have to survive the much tougher lower-bracket route.
Ultimately, the Grand Final will decide the LCK 2026 champion after more than four months of competition.
Moreover, the stakes extend beyond the domestic trophy. The final playoff results will also play an important role as Korea’s leading teams turn their attention toward Worlds 2026.
Therefore, every remaining BO5 carries enormous pressure.
What Format Does the LCK 2026 Playoffs Use?
The LCK 2026 Playoffs use a double-elimination format, featuring both an upper and lower bracket.
As a result, teams can potentially recover from one defeat, depending on their position in the bracket. However, once a team falls into the lower bracket, every following match becomes a battle for survival.
In addition, every playoff series is played as a best-of-five (BO5) and uses Fearless Draft.
Consequently, champion pools and strategic flexibility become increasingly important as each series continues.
For example, if a matchup reaches Game 4 or Game 5, teams must find new solutions as more champion choices become unavailable. Therefore, individual mechanics alone are not enough.
Instead, teams also need deep champion pools, flexible drafts, strong preparation, and the ability to adapt quickly.
Because of this, Fearless Draft could become one of the biggest factors in deciding the LCK 2026 champion.
LCK 2026 Championship Race Enters Its Decisive Stage
The LCK 2026 Playoffs started with six teams. Now, however, only Gen.G, HLE, T1, and DK remain in the championship race.
Gen.G have looked extremely strong following their 3-0 victory over KT. Meanwhile, HLE showed their resilience by defeating T1 in a dramatic five-game series.
DK, on the other hand, have built impressive momentum in the lower bracket. After losing 0-3 to KT, they responded with two consecutive victories to keep their season alive.
T1 should not be overlooked either. Although they have dropped into the lower bracket, they can still reach the Grand Final. First, however, they must overcome DK before surviving another elimination series on September 12.
For now, Gen.G vs HLE on September 5 and T1 vs DK on September 6 will determine the next stage of the bracket.
After that, only three teams will remain.
Therefore, with several high-stakes BO5 battles still ahead, the LCK 2026 Playoffs schedule from September 5 to 13 promises an intense conclusion to the season.
Ultimately, only one team will survive the bracket, lift the trophy, and finish the season as the LCK 2026 champion.
