Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) met in one of the biggest matches of Week 11 in the LCK 2026 Split 3 Legend Group. Both teams had lost their previous two series. As a result, the pressure was higher than ever.
The best-of-three lived up to the hype. First, Gen.G controlled Game 1 with excellent macro. Then, HLE answered with a dominant Game 2. Finally, the deciding game delivered one of the wildest finishes of the 2026 season. In the end, Gen.G defeated HLE 2-1 after an incredible comeback led by Duro, Chovy, and Ruler.

Gen.G and HLE looked to end difficult losing streaks
The pressure was unusually high before the opening draft.
Gen.G had lost two straight matches for the first time since Chovy joined the organization. That remarkable streak had lasted for more than 1,800 days. Meanwhile, HLE also entered the series after disappointing defeats against Dplus KIA and KT Rolster.

Canyon attacked early with Lee Sin. He secured the first successful gank of the game. As a result, Kiin enjoyed a strong start in the top lane.

Duro made a huge impact as well.

Instead of playing a slow game, Kanavi pressured the map from the opening minutes. He repeatedly attacked the middle lane. As a result, Zeka found an early kill on Chovy.

From that point on, Akali became the strongest champion on the Rift. Zeka constantly threatened Gen.G’s carries. Meanwhile, Zeus charged into every fight with Olaf. At the same time, Kanavi’s Vi locked down priority targets.

The deciding game quickly turned into an instant classic.
Gen.G dominate the early game
Gen.G started aggressively.
Canyon’s Nocturne organized a clean dive in the bottom lane before the three-minute mark. As a result, Ruler’s Kalista secured an early advantage.
Meanwhile, Chovy completely controlled the middle lane with Syndra. He pushed Viktor under the turret and constantly roamed to support his teammates. Gen.G continued to build momentum.
Soon afterward, they secured Cloud Dragon Soul. In addition, they controlled vision around every major objective. The series looked firmly under Gen.G’s control.
HLE refuse to give up
However, HLE showed why they remain one of the strongest teams in Korea. Zeus became nearly impossible to kill on Dr. Mundo. Because of this, HLE successfully secured Baron Nashor.
Later, they caught Canyon before the Elder Dragon fight. HLE immediately moved toward the objective.
They won the fight and claimed Elder Dragon. As a result, the momentum completely shifted.
With both Baron and Elder Dragon, HLE marched directly into Gen.G’s base. Victory looked only seconds away.
Duro changes everything
Then came the defining moment of the series. As HLE grouped inside Gen.G’s base, Duro found the perfect angle with Hostile Takeover. The ultimate connected with multiple HLE players.
Immediately, the Berserk effect forced them to attack one another. At the same time, Elder Dragon’s execute effect activated against their own teammates.
Consequently, HLE’s winning push collapsed within seconds.
The crowd erupted as Gen.G survived what looked like certain defeat.
Chovy and Ruler complete the comeback
Gen.G instantly recognized the opportunity.
First, Chovy eliminated the remaining HLE players with Syndra. He finished the game without dying a single time while holding a fully stacked Mejai’s Soulstealer.
Meanwhile, Ruler’s Kalista chased down every escaping target.
Finally, Gen.G crossed the map and destroyed HLE’s Nexus to complete one of the greatest comebacks of the 2026 LCK season.
The emotional victory secured the series 2-1.ed a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Duro steals the spotlight
Many players performed well throughout the series. However, Duro was the biggest hero.
His Poppy shut down HLE’s engage composition in Game 1. Later, his Renata Glasc produced the defining play of the entire match.
That ultimate completely changed the result of Game 3.
Chovy also reminded everyone why he remains one of the best mid laners in the world. His Anivia controlled the opening game, while his flawless Syndra carried the deciding game.
Ruler also delivered another excellent series. His Kalista dominated the lane and dealt consistent damage during every important fight.

Gen.G regain momentum before the playoffs
This victory means much more than one regular-season win. Gen.G finally ended their losing streak. More importantly, they regained confidence before the final stretch of the LCK 2026 Split 3 season.
Meanwhile, HLE will leave the series with plenty of positives despite the defeat. The team fought back brilliantly after losing Game 1 and came within moments of completing an incredible comeback in the deciding game.
