TFT Set 18: Enchanted Wilds introduces many new traits and mechanics. As a result, players can explore fresh team compositions and unique strategies. Among them, the Eclipse Hidden Trait stands out the most.

Unlike normal traits, Eclipse is hidden. Instead, you must combine two opposite traits. Those traits are Sunlight and Moonlight.

First, you build a strong early-game board with Sunlight. Next, you add Moonlight champions during the late game. Finally, Eclipse unlocks after both traits become active.

Because of this, Eclipse has quickly become one of the most exciting mechanics in TFT Set 18.

What Is the Eclipse Hidden Trait?

Eclipse is a hidden synergy in TFT Set 18. It only appears when you activate:

3 Sunlight
3 Moonlight

Once both milestones are active, Eclipse unlocks automatically. The trait has one simple but powerful effect.

After the first 10 seconds of combat, Eclipse executes the enemy champion with the lowest Health. Then, the same effect repeats every 3 seconds until the fight ends.

This ability becomes stronger during long battles. Therefore, Eclipse performs very well against tank-heavy teams.

Sunlight Trait Explained

The Best Trait for Early Reroll Compositions

Sunlight focuses on cheap champions. It rewards players who reroll early and upgrade units to three stars.

Sunlight Champions

Leona
Kayle
Sejuani
Lux

Every Sunlight champion gains extra power.

The trait provides:

A shield equal to 5% of maximum Health
Bonus magic damage
Extra scaling based on your number of three-star champions

The final breakpoint is even stronger.

At the highest Sunlight level, every three-star champion becomes a temporary four-star unit during combat. This gives the entire team a massive power spike.

Because of this, Sunlight is one of the strongest reroll traits in TFT Set 18.

Why Sunlight Is So Strong

Sunlight has several advantages.

First, it uses low-cost champions. That makes rerolling much easier. Second, the shield helps your frontline survive longer. Third, the extra magic damage increases your overall damage output.

Most importantly, the trait becomes much stronger after you upgrade several champions to three stars.

Therefore, Sunlight gives players a stable early game while saving enough Health for later stages.

Moonlight Trait Explained

A Flexible Trait for the Late Game

Moonlight is very different from Sunlight.

Instead of cheap champions, Moonlight uses expensive units that become available later in the game.

Moonlight Champions

Diana
Aphelios
Alune
Lux

Moonlight focuses on supporting your team.

The trait grants:

Attack Speed
Ability Power
Double bonuses for Moonlight champions
Buffs for nearby allies

Because of these effects, Moonlight fits many different team compositions.

Players can easily add the trait to both AD and AP teams.

Why Moonlight Works in Many Compositions

Moonlight is one of the most flexible traits in Set 18. Its champions belong to several different classes. As a result, they fit naturally into many late-game boards.

In addition, most Moonlight champions cost three to five gold. You will usually find them after reaching Level 8.

Therefore, Moonlight becomes much stronger as the game goes on.

How to Unlock Eclipse

Unlocking Eclipse is simple.

You only need:

3 Sunlight
3 Moonlight

Once both traits are active, Eclipse appears automatically. There are no special items. There are no hidden champions. You also do not need a special emblem.

However, reaching both milestones requires good planning. Sunlight and Moonlight use different strategies. Therefore, players must transition carefully during the middle stages of the game.

Best Way to Play Eclipse

The Eclipse strategy has three main stages.

Stage 1: Build Sunlight

Start with Sunlight champions. Focus on rerolling low-cost units.

Upgrade your carries and frontline to three stars. This gives you a strong board that can win many early fights.

Stage 2: Save Gold and Level Up

After stabilizing your board, stop rerolling. Save gold and increase your level. Look for Diana, Aphelios, Alune, and the remaining Moonlight champions.

At this point, replace weaker units one by one. This keeps your board strong while preparing for Eclipse.

Stage 3: Activate Eclipse

Once you have 3 Sunlight and 3 Moonlight, Eclipse activates. The execute effect starts after ten seconds. Every three seconds afterward, Eclipse kills the enemy with the lowest Health.

As a result, long fights become much easier to win. Enemy carries also become much less safe.

Eclipse Strengths

Eclipse has many powerful advantages.

Strong late-game scaling

The execute effect keeps removing enemy champions. Long fights always favor Eclipse.

Great against tanks

High-Health frontline champions cannot survive forever. Eventually, Eclipse executes them.

Flexible gameplay

Players can combine reroll and late-game scaling in one composition. This creates many different team-building options.

High skill ceiling

Good economy management is very rewarding. Players who transition smoothly will often finish with a much stronger board.

Eclipse Weaknesses

Even so, Eclipse is not perfect. First, it requires careful planning. If you spend too much gold rerolling, you may never find your expensive Moonlight champions.

Second, the execute effect only starts after ten seconds. Fast burst teams can sometimes end the fight before Eclipse becomes active.

Finally, poor transitions can weaken your board during the middle stages. Therefore, players should always manage their economy carefully.

Should You Play Eclipse in TFT Set 18?

The Eclipse Hidden Trait is one of the most exciting additions in TFT Set 18.

It combines two completely different traits into one strategy. Sunlight controls the early game with strong reroll units. Meanwhile, Moonlight provides powerful scaling during the late game. Finally, Eclipse ties everything together with a deadly execute effect.

Because of this design, Eclipse feels fresh and rewarding. It also encourages players to think about timing, economy, and team transitions instead of forcing one composition from start to finish.

The Set 18 meta will continue to evolve after release. However, Eclipse already looks like one of the strongest hidden traits in the game. If you enjoy flexible gameplay and long teamfights, this composition is definitely worth trying.
