Kha Y Tran The TFT Set 18.1D meta has changed after Riot released a new balance update. Several strong champions received nerfs. At the same time, weaker units received useful buffs.
Cassiopeia, Ahri, Morgana, and Wild were some of the main targets. Meanwhile, Amumu, Soraka, Draven, and Elder Dragon became stronger.
Because of these changes, more team comps may now enter the meta. Reroll remains strong. However, AP and Fast 9 boards also have more room to shine.

Why Did Riot Release TFT Set 18.1D?
The first days of TFT Set 18 had several balance problems. Some comps were simply too strong.
Cassiopeia was one of the biggest problems. She dealt huge damage and worked well in reroll comps. She could also play behind a strong frontline. As a result, she often controlled the mid game.
Fiddlesticks was another strong unit. In addition, the 7 Wild trait gave players too much late-game power.
Ahri and Morgana were also very popular. Both could quickly attack the enemy backline. Because of this, fragile carries often died before they could deal enough damage.
Therefore, Riot released Patch 18.1D to reduce these power spikes.
Major Trait Changes in TFT Set 18.1D
Plant received an important nerf. The trait now gives 8 Mana instead of 10. Its healing also dropped from 8% to 6%.
As a result, Plant comps have less sustain. They may struggle more in long fights. Wild also received a nerf at its 7-unit breakpoint. The bonus Attack Damage, Ability Power, and Attack Speed growth dropped from 6% to 5%.
The change looks small at first. However, it becomes more important during long fights. Wild boards will still scale, but they should not become as powerful as before.
Cassiopeia Takes a Major Hit
Cassiopeia was one of the biggest targets of Patch 18.1D. Her spell AP scaling dropped from 440/660/1050% to 400/600/950%. This directly reduces her damage. Therefore, Cassiopeia reroll should have a lower power ceiling.
However, the comp may still work with the right opening. A three-star Cassiopeia with strong items can still deal heavy damage.
The difference is simple. Players can no longer expect her to dominate every lobby with ease.
Master Yi Is Still a Strong Reroll Carry
Master Yi also received a nerf. His Armor and Magic Resistance dropped from 60 to 55. However, Riot did not reduce his main damage numbers.
Because of this, Master Yi should remain a strong reroll carry. His lower defenses make positioning more important. Still, he can deal huge damage when protected from crowd control.
Master Yi and Rengar can also work as dual carries. This gives the comp more ways to win fights.
Therefore, Master Yi reroll remains one of the comps worth watching in TFT Set 18.1D.
Ahri and Morgana Become Weaker
Ahri and Morgana were another major target.
Ahri’s spell AP scaling dropped from 450/675% to 425/640%. Meanwhile, Morgana now needs 65 Mana instead of 60 to cast.
These nerfs affect the comp in two ways.
First, Ahri deals less burst damage. Second, Morgana takes longer to cast her spell.
As a result, Ahri-Morgana boards may struggle to destroy enemy backlines as quickly as before.
The comp is not dead. However, it should now need better items and stronger upgrades to reach the same level of power.
Amumu Could Become a Top Tank
Amumu is one of the biggest winners of Patch 18.1D. His maximum Mana dropped from 140 to 125. In addition, his healing increased from 2.2% to 2.5% of maximum health. These are two useful buffs.
Amumu can now cast more often. He can also recover more health during fights. Because of this, Amumu could become one of the best four-cost tanks in the TFT Set 18.1D meta.
He is also flexible. Therefore, players may use him in several different AP and late-game boards.
Soraka Gets a Big Damage Buff
Soraka also received an important buff. Her first star’s AP scaling increased from 190/285% to 225/335%.
This gives Soraka much better damage. More importantly, she can now become a real carry instead of only filling a support role.
Soraka also works well with Amumu. He can protect the frontline while Soraka attacks from the back.
For this reason, Zyra-Soraka could become one of the most interesting AP comps in Patch 18.1D.
Draven and Elder Dragon Become Stronger
Riot also improved several expensive units. Draven now needs only 110 Mana instead of 120. His base Attack Speed also increased from 0.80 to 0.85.
Therefore, Draven can attack faster and cast more often. Elder Dragon also received a simple buff. Its base Attack Damage increased from 115 to 125.
These buffs are good news for Fast 9 players. Expensive boards now have stronger late-game carries.
Lux also received more spell damage. However, Moon Lux now gives less bonus damage to allies. Even so, Lux should remain a useful option on high-level AP boards.
Best TFT Set 18.1D Meta Comps
The balance changes may create space for several new comps.
Zyra-Soraka with Amumu
Zyra-Soraka is one of the biggest comps to watch. Soraka received more damage. Meanwhile, Amumu became a better tank.
Together, they create a simple setup. Amumu buys time in the frontline. Meanwhile, Zyra and Soraka deal damage from the back.
This comp is also useful when too many players are contesting Ahri or Morgana.
Fast 9 Draven
Fast 9 Draven could become a strong late-game option. Draven, Amumu, and Lux all received useful changes. Therefore, expensive boards have more power than before.
However, Fast 9 is not easy to force. You need a strong economy and enough HP. If your early game is weak, reaching Level 9 can be risky.
Therefore, use this strategy when you have a strong start.
Master Yi-Rengar Reroll
Master Yi-Rengar remains another good option. He lost some defenses. However, his damage is still strong.
Quicksilver and Guinsoo’s Rageblade can help him stay active during fights. Meanwhile, Rengar works as the second carry. Vi can also become the main tank if you can reach three stars.
This comp is especially strong when you naturally find many copies of its core units.
Other Champions to Watch
Several other units could rise after Patch 18.1D. Veigar may become a strong one-cost reroll carry. Kayle could also become more popular.
Meanwhile, Aphelios and Zyra may benefit from the fall of Cassiopeia and Ahri-Morgana. Soraka is another unit to watch closely. Her damage buff is large enough to open new team comps.
Finally, Amumu may become one of the most flexible frontline units in the patch.
TFT Set 18.1D Meta Is More Open
Overall, TFT Set 18.1D should create a more open meta. Cassiopeia, Ahri, Morgana, and Wild are weaker. However, they are not completely out of the meta.
At the same time, Amumu, Soraka, Draven, and Elder Dragon are stronger. Because of this, players now have more options.
Zyra-Soraka looks promising for AP players. Master Yi-Rengar remains a strong reroll choice. Meanwhile, Fast 9 Draven offers a powerful late-game path. Kayle, Aphelios, Veigar, and other carries may also rise as the meta develops.
Most importantly, players should stay flexible. Do not force the same comp every game. Instead, look at your items, Augments, economy, and available units.
The TFT Set 18.1D meta is still developing. However, Patch 18.1D has already opened the door for many new comps to challenge the old favorites.
