Kha Y Tran Korean manhwa is having a major moment in anime. The success of Solo Leveling has helped many Korean webtoons reach new audiences. Now, another famous manhwa is making the same move.
SSS-Class Revival Hunter is officially getting an anime adaptation. Crunchyroll confirmed the project in September 2026. The anime is now in production. It is set to premiere in January 2027.
The news has already caught the attention of manhwa fans. It is also exciting news for viewers who enjoy action, fantasy, and tower-based stories.
SSS-Class Revival Hunter Anime Will Premiere in 2027
The SSS-Class Revival Hunter anime was announced on September 9, 2026. Crunchyroll shared the news with a short teaser. The teaser gives fans a first look at the project. It also reveals some staff members and voice actors. However, the video is still very short. Therefore, fans have not seen much of the actual animation yet.
The anime is being made by Studio Fu. It is a young Japanese animation studio. The studio was founded in 2025. Fuminori Hara leads the studio. This makes the project quite interesting. Studio Fu is still new to the anime industry. As a result, many fans are waiting to see what the studio can deliver.
The release date is also quite close. The anime will arrive in January 2027. That means viewers will not have to wait too long for the first episode.
The Story Started as a Web Novel
Many fans know SSS-Class Revival Hunter as a manhwa. However, the story started in a different format. Author Sinnoa first released the story as a web novel. The novel was published on Munpia from November 2018 to May 2020.
The novel became popular. Soon after, the story received a manhwa version. The manhwa began in December 2020. It later built a large reader base. The series also continued to grow through its release on KakaoPage.
The story uses many popular fantasy ideas. For example, it has hunters, dangerous towers, special powers, and ranking systems. Even so, the series does more than use common ideas. As the story moves forward, it creates its own style and identity.
Now, the anime adaptation could bring this story to an even bigger audience.
Who Is Kim Gong-Ja?
The main character is Kim Gong-Ja. At the start of the story, Gong-Ja is not a strong hunter. He lives in a world filled with mysterious towers. These towers are dangerous places. They also offer great rewards.
Hunters enter the towers to fight monsters and grow stronger. They also have different ranks based on their power. Gong-Ja starts near the bottom.
His life changes when he gets a special S-rank skill. However, this skill does not work like normal abilities. There is a strange rule.
Gong-Ja must die before the skill activates. Once he dies, the skill lets him copy another person’s ability. This gives him a new way to become stronger. Death is no longer the end for Gong-Ja. Instead, it becomes part of his path.
This idea is one of the main reasons the series stands out. Every death can give Gong-Ja new information. It can also give him a new power.
Why Does It Remind Fans of Solo Leveling?
The comparison with Solo Leveling is easy to understand. Both stories take place in worlds filled with powerful hunters. Both also use ranks to show a character’s strength. There are other similarities too.
Both series have dangerous areas. Both feature special powers. Also, both follow a weak main character who gains a rare ability. This makes some fans think of Sung Jinwoo when they first discover Kim Gong-Ja.
However, the two stories are not the same. SSS-Class Revival Hunter has its own main idea. Its revival system plays a much bigger role in the story. Gong-Ja must use death, knowledge, and careful planning to move forward. The story also changes as it develops.
Therefore, fans should not expect another version of Solo Leveling. Instead, they can look at SSS-Class Revival Hunter as another series from the same popular fantasy space.
Solo Leveling Helped Korean Manhwa Grow
The success of Solo Leveling has had a big impact on Korean manhwa. For many years, Japanese manga had a much stronger presence in the anime market. Korean webtoons were already popular, but anime adaptations were less common.
That situation is changing. Solo Leveling showed that a Korean webtoon could become a major global anime hit. The series attracted viewers from many countries. It also introduced more people to Korean webtoons.
Because of this success, fans are now watching other manhwa adaptations with greater interest. SSS-Class Revival Hunter is one of the titles that could benefit from this trend.
It already has a popular story and a strong fanbase. More importantly, its fantasy setting fits the anime format very well.
What Can Fans Expect From the Anime?
The anime has a lot of material to work with. The story includes tower battles, powerful hunters, special skills, and dangerous enemies. These elements could create exciting action scenes. The main character also has an unusual power. This can lead to many creative fight scenes.
Still, the animation will be very important. Studio Fu is a new studio. So far, the teaser has not shown enough footage to judge the full quality. Fans will likely learn more through future trailers. Character videos and new promotional images could also reveal more details.
For now, the January 2027 release date is the biggest piece of information.
Could SSS-Class Revival Hunter Become the Next Big Manhwa Anime?
There is a good reason for the excitement around this project. SSS-Class Revival Hunter already has a large story. It also has an interesting main character and a unique power system. The anime arrives at a good time as well.
Solo Leveling has helped create more interest in Korean fantasy stories. As a result, new manhwa anime can now attract viewers who may not have read the original webtoon. SSS-Class Revival Hunter has the chance to reach that audience.
However, the anime must still prove itself. Good animation will be important. Strong action scenes will also matter. Most of all, the adaptation needs to keep the key ideas that made the original story popular.
If it succeeds, the SSS-Class Revival Hunter anime could become one of the biggest new fantasy anime of 2027. For now, fans only need to wait a little longer. The series is officially coming in January 2027.
After following the path opened by Solo Leveling, SSS-Class Revival Hunter now has a chance to create its own place in the anime world.
