Caps Officially Enters the Hall of Legends
The biggest highlight of LoL Patch 26.18 is Caps. The European star is now part of the Hall of Legends. Rasmus “Caps” Winther is one of Europe’s greatest League of Legends players. He has also played a major role on the global esports stage.
Therefore, this honor is a major moment for both Caps and European League of Legends. Riot Games is also releasing a special Battle Pass. The pass has 100 reward levels. Players can unlock many Caps-themed rewards.
The biggest rewards include special Orianna and Tristana skins. Caps helped create both skins.
In addition, the Battle Pass offers 125 Mythic Essence and 11 Gems. Players can also earn a special title and several unique emotes.
As a result, Caps fans have plenty of reasons to check out Patch 26.18.
Nautilus and Bard Receive Nerfs
Meanwhile, Riot Games is reducing the power of Nautilus and Bard. Both supports are common in professional games. They can also have a strong impact during team fights.
Because of this, Riot wants to give other support champions more room.
Bard is losing some early durability. His base armor drops from 34 to 32. His armor growth also falls from 5 to 4.7. This change makes Bard weaker in early trades. Therefore, Bard players will need to pick their fights more carefully.
Nautilus is also receiving a damage nerf. His base attack damage drops to 58. His Q, Dredge Line, also deals less damage at higher ranks. The damage changes from 85/130/175/220/265 to 85/125/165/205/245. However, Riot is keeping his main crowd control tools. Nautilus can still start fights very well.
Therefore, the champion should remain useful. However, his damage will be lower than before.
Cassiopeia Gets a Major Balance Adjustment
Cassiopeia receives one of the more interesting changes in Patch 26.18. Riot wants to reduce her power in professional games. At the same time, the team wants to improve her late-game scaling.
First, her passive movement speed is reduced. The new value is around 5%–36%. Her Q and R also lose some base damage. However, their AP ratios become stronger. E, Twin Fang, is also getting a better AP ratio. The base AP ratio is increased to 20%.
Because of these changes, Cassiopeia may have less early pressure. However, she can become stronger with more AP items.
Therefore, the new version rewards players who can farm and scale.
Syndra Loses Some Poke Power
Syndra is also being adjusted in the latest patch.
First, the bonus mana gained from her passive shards is reduced to 20–199. More importantly, W – Force of Will receives a longer cooldown at every rank.
Its cooldown becomes 13/12/11/10/9 seconds.
Because of this change, Syndra will have fewer opportunities to repeatedly cast her abilities. In particular, players who rely on constant poke will need to manage their cooldowns more carefully.
At the same time, positioning becomes even more important. Therefore, Syndra players should focus on finding high-value trades instead of constantly using W whenever it is available.
Viego, Master Yi, and Ekko Receive Buffs
While several popular champions are being nerfed, Riot is also giving some jungle and mid lane picks more power.
Viego
Viego is one of the biggest winners in Patch 26.18. His attack damage growth increases to 4 per level.
Furthermore, his passive, Sovereign’s Domination, receives an important adjustment. His healing now interacts with additional stats, including bonus AD, AP, attack speed, and the target’s bonus health.
As a result, Viego can benefit from more itemization options. In particular, bruiser builds could become more attractive in longer games.
Master Yi Becomes Faster
Master Yi also receives several useful buffs.
His armor growth increases to 5 per level. At the same time, his ultimate, Highlander, gains an additional 5% movement speed at every rank.
Therefore, Master Yi should have an easier time chasing enemies and staying close to targets.
Moreover, the extra movement speed can help him clean up team fights after securing his first takedown. As a result, his reset-based playstyle could become more effective in solo queue.
Ekko Gets More Mid Lane Potential
Ekko is another champion who benefits from Patch 26.18.
Q – Timewinder now costs less mana. In addition, its return damage receives a stronger 70% AP ratio.
This means Ekko can clear waves more efficiently while also maintaining better poke in the mid lane.
Furthermore, lower mana costs give him more freedom during the laning phase. Therefore, players may find it easier to farm safely before looking for aggressive plays.
If the meta shifts toward slower mid-game fights, Ekko could become an increasingly attractive pick thanks to his scaling and burst damage.
Zaahen Receives Quality-of-Life Changes
Zaahen also receives several adjustments in Patch 26.18.
His Q2 gains increased base damage. Moreover, Riot is improving the cooldown interaction connected to his revival mechanic.
These changes are mainly designed to make Zaahen feel smoother to play. At the same time, they give players more opportunities to make use of his full ability combo during fights.
As a result, Zaahen could become more consistent, especially in extended battles.
Classic Mode Adds More Demacia Champions
The changes in LoL Patch 26.18 are not limited to Summoner’s Rift. The Classic Mode is also receiving new content featuring several Demacian champions. These include Fiora, Galio, Poppy, Shyvana, and Xin Zhao.
Therefore, players who enjoy Demacia-themed champions will have more options to explore.
Meanwhile, ARAM is also getting improvements to its Chaos Augment system. These adjustments are designed to provide more suitable choices for the champion being played.
As a result, ARAM players should have more opportunities to find upgrades that match their playstyle.
How Will LoL Patch 26.18 Change the Meta?
Overall, the LoL Patch 26.18 details show that Riot is trying to reduce the dominance of several popular professional picks.
Nautilus, Bard, Syndra, and Cassiopeia all lose some of their strengths. However, Viego, Master Yi, and Ekko receive tools that could help them compete more effectively.
The jungle role, in particular, could become more interesting. Viego and Master Yi can both take advantage of their buffs. Meanwhile, Ekko could gain more popularity in the mid lane.
Furthermore, nerfs to several common picks may create opportunities for less popular champions. Therefore, players should pay close attention to the meta during the first days of Patch 26.18.
Final Thoughts
The LoL Patch 26.18 update delivers a mix of major balance changes and exciting new content.
Caps entering the Hall of Legends is undoubtedly the biggest celebration of the patch. However, the champion changes could have an even bigger impact on everyday ranked games.
Viego, Master Yi, and Ekko are among the champions worth watching after the update. Meanwhile, Nautilus, Bard, Syndra, and Cassiopeia players may need to adjust their strategies.
Ultimately, Patch 26.18 could create a noticeably different League of Legends meta. Therefore, whether you are a ranked player or a competitive esports fan, this is a patch worth watching closely.
