Elderwood Ezreal Team Composition
The full team uses 9 champions:
- Ezreal – Main AD carry
- Soraka – Main AP carry
- Hecarim – Main tank
- Gnar – Frontline tank
- Ornn – Frontline tank
- Alistar – Frontline tank
- Fiddlesticks – Magic damage
- LeBlanc – Extra damage
- Xayah – Extra AD damage
The main goal is to reach 7 Elderwood. After that, you can add more power at level 9.
Why Play Elderwood Ezreal?
First, this team has a very strong backline.
Ezreal deals steady physical damage. He can attack from a safe spot. He also becomes stronger in long fights.
Meanwhile, Soraka adds magic damage. This gives the team two main damage types. As a result, enemies cannot easily stop your team with one type of defense.
The frontline is also strong. Hecarim, Gnar, Ornn, and Alistar can take a lot of damage. Therefore, they give Ezreal and Soraka more time to attack.
Elderwood also helps the team scale. The trait creates tree units that help during combat. As the trait level goes up, these effects become stronger.
Because of this, the team works well in long fights.
Elderwood Ezreal Team Composition
At level 9, use:
Ezreal – Soraka – Hecarim – Gnar – Ornn – Alistar – LeBlanc – Fiddlesticks – Xayah
Ezreal should be your main carry. Soraka should get your best AP items. At the same time, Hecarim should hold your best tank items. Gnar, Ornn, and Alistar then help build the frontline.
Finally, Xayah, LeBlanc, and Fiddlesticks provide extra damage. This setup gives the team a good mix of damage and defense.
Best Items for Ezreal
Ezreal is your main AD carry. Therefore, give him your best physical damage items.
The best choices are:
- Infinity Edge
- Deathblade
- Spear of Shojin
These items work well together.
Infinity Edge gives Ezreal more critical damage. Deathblade gives him more AD. Meanwhile, Spear of Shojin helps him cast his skill more often.
You can also use:
- Last Whisper
- Giant Slayer
- Guinsoo’s Rageblade
However, do not wait too long for perfect items. If you have useful AD items, combine them early. This can help you save HP.
Best Items for Soraka
Soraka is your second carry. So, give her your best AP items.
Good choices include:
- Spear of Shojin
- Rabadon’s Deathcap
- Archangel’s Staff
- Jeweled Gauntlet
- Void Staff
Spear of Shojin helps Soraka cast more often. Rabadon’s Deathcap gives more magic damage. Archangel’s Staff is also strong in long fights.
Therefore, Soraka can become a strong damage source when she gets good items.
You should also keep your item choices flexible. For example, use Swords and Bows for Ezreal. Then, use Rods and Tears for Soraka.
Best Items for Hecarim
Hecarim is the main tank.
Give him defensive items such as:
- Warmog’s Armor
- Dragon’s Claw
- Gargoyle Stoneplate
- Sunfire Cape
- Spirit Visage
Warmog’s Armor gives Hecarim more health. Dragon’s Claw helps against magic damage. Gargoyle Stoneplate is useful when Hecarim takes attacks from many enemies.
However, you do not need to wait for Hecarim. If you find Ornn or Alistar first, give them the tank items.
Later, you can move the items to Hecarim.
How to Play the Early Game
Your early game goal is simple. Build your economy and save HP.
First, use cheap Elderwood units when possible. Add a strong frontline unit as well. You do not need to find Ezreal or Soraka early. They are expensive units. Instead, use another champion to hold their items.
For example, a temporary AD carry can use Ezreal’s items. Later, move the items to Ezreal. Likewise, a temporary AP carry can hold Soraka’s items.
If your opening board is strong, try to keep a win streak. If your board is weak, save gold and avoid spending too much. Most importantly, try to reach level 8 with enough HP and gold.
Mid-Game Strategy
At level 6 and level 7, start adding stronger Elderwood units.
Look for:
- Hecarim
- Gnar
- LeBlanc
- Xayah
- Ornn
- Alistar
At this stage, your main goal is to prepare for level 8. If your board is strong, keep saving gold. Then, level up as soon as possible.
However, if you are losing too much HP, roll a little. Upgrade your frontline first. You do not need to spend all your gold.
Hecarim is very useful here. A strong Hecarim can absorb damage for several seconds. Therefore, your backline gets more time to deal damage.
When to Level 8
The most important part of this strategy is level 8. Once you reach level 8, start rolling for your key units.
Your main targets are:
- Ezreal
- Soraka
- Hecarim
- Gnar
- Other missing Elderwood units
First, try to complete your main Elderwood setup. Then, look for upgrades. Your biggest goals are Ezreal 2-star and Soraka 2-star.
At the same time, make sure your frontline is strong. There is little value in having strong carries if they die too quickly. However, do not spend all your gold without a reason.
If you already have a stable board, stop rolling. Then, save gold for level 9.
Level 9 Final Board
At level 9, use:
Ezreal – Soraka – Hecarim – Gnar – Ornn – Alistar – LeBlanc – Fiddlesticks – Xayah
This gives you two main carries. Ezreal deals physical damage. Soraka deals magic damage. Meanwhile, Hecarim and the other frontline units protect them.
If you get an Elderwood Emblem, you can also aim for a higher Elderwood breakpoint. This can make your team even stronger.
How to Position Elderwood Ezreal
Positioning is very important.
First, place Hecarim, Gnar, Ornn, and Alistar near the front. Their job is to take damage and control the enemy team.
Next, place Ezreal in the backline. Keep him away from enemy threats. Soraka should also stay in the back.
However, do not always put Ezreal and Soraka next to each other. Some enemies can deal strong area damage. In that case, spread your carries apart.
You should also scout before every fight. If an enemy has strong backline damage, move Ezreal. Likewise, move Soraka if she is in danger. Good positioning can often save a close fight.
Best Augments for Elderwood Ezreal
This team works well with economy, item, and combat Augments.
First, economy Augments are useful. They help you reach level 8 faster. They can also help you reach level 9 later.
Next, item Augments are good for this team. More items mean more power for Ezreal, Soraka, and Hecarim.
Combat Augments are also useful. AD effects can make Ezreal stronger. AP and mana effects can improve Soraka.
Finally, Elderwood-related Augments can be very strong. If an Augment helps you reach a higher Elderwood breakpoint, consider taking it.
Elderwood Ezreal Tips
Here are some simple tips to remember.
First, protect your economy. You need a lot of gold because the team uses several expensive units.
Second, do not focus only on Ezreal. Soraka is also an important carry. Give her good AP items when possible.
Third, keep your items flexible. Do not force perfect items every game.
Fourth, build a strong frontline. Your carries need time to deal damage.
Finally, scout your enemies. Check their carry positions before each fight. Then, move Ezreal and Soraka when needed.
These small changes can make the team much more consistent.
