TFT Set 18 adds many exciting new traits. Among them, Fire is one of the most flexible. It deals Burn damage, reduces healing, and even upgrades your Shop.

As a result, Fire gives value throughout the game. Moreover, you do not need to activate every breakpoint to make it useful. Even two or three Fire champions can strengthen your board.

Because of this, Fire is expected to become one of the safest traits in TFT Set 18.

What Is the Fire Trait?

Fire is a flexible trait in TFT Set 18. It focuses on Burn damage instead of burst damage.

Every Fire champion can apply Burn to enemies. Burn deals damage over time and lowers healing for several seconds. This makes it much easier to beat teams that rely on healing or lifesteal.

Unlike many traits, Fire also improves your Shop. After each combat, some champions in the Shop can upgrade into higher-cost units. As a result, you have a better chance to find stronger champions later in the game.

Because of these bonuses, Fire helps both your board and your economy.

All Fire Champions

The Fire trait has six champions.

Champion	Secondary Traits
Akali	Adaptive
Varus	Wild, Rapidfire
Shen	Guardian
Amumu	Warrior
Kennen	Slayer
Lux	Celestial

Each champion has a different role. For example, Akali is a mobile melee carry. She dives into the enemy backline and removes key targets.

Meanwhile, Varus provides reliable ranged damage throughout the game. Shen acts as a frontline tank. In addition, he protects your carries during long fights. Amumu brings crowd control. Kennen adds burst magic damage.

Finally, Lux becomes one of the strongest late-game carries. Because every champion belongs to another trait, Fire fits naturally into many different team compositions.

Fire Trait Bonus Explained

Fire champions apply Burn whenever they damage an enemy. Burn has two effects.

First, it deals damage over time. Second, it reduces healing. This is very useful against champions that rely on lifesteal, shields, or healing abilities.

Another important detail is that Fire Burn can stack with other Burn effects.

As a result, your team keeps dealing damage throughout long fights. Enemy tanks become much easier to kill. At the same time, healing-focused teams lose one of their biggest strengths.

Because Fire already provides healing reduction, you also rely less on anti-heal items like Morellonomicon or Sunfire Cape.

That gives you more freedom when choosing items.

Fire Trait Breakpoints

3 Fire

The three-unit bonus is where Fire becomes interesting. After every combat, several non-Fire champions in your Shop become Burned.

Those units upgrade into champions that cost one more gold.

For example:

• A 2-cost champion can become a random 3-cost unit.
• A 3-cost champion can become a 4-cost unit.

This increases your chance of finding stronger champions without spending extra gold.

Because of that, many players stop at 3 Fire.

5 Fire

Five Fire gives stronger combat power. Burn deals more damage. Healing reduction also becomes stronger.

In addition, more Shop slots upgrade after combat.

At this point, Fire becomes a real core trait instead of just a support synergy.

7 Fire

Seven Fire unlocks the strongest version of the trait. Burn becomes even stronger. More Shop slots upgrade after every round.

However, reaching this breakpoint is not always easy. Lux is a high-cost champion, so finding her consistently can be difficult.

For that reason, many players prefer to stay at 3 or 5 Fire unless they naturally reach the final breakpoint.

Why Fire Is So Flexible

Fire works with many different team compositions.

For example, Akali fits Adaptive teams. Meanwhile, Varus works well with Rapidfire carries. Shen strengthens Guardian frontlines. Likewise, Amumu supports Warrior compositions. Kennen fits Slayer teams. Finally, Lux joins many late-game AP boards.

Because every Fire champion shares another trait, adding Fire rarely breaks your team. Instead, it usually makes your board stronger.

Best Way to Play Fire

Most players should aim for three Fire. At this breakpoint, you gain Burn damage, healing reduction, and better Shop upgrades.

More importantly, you keep room for stronger late-game synergies. Meanwhile, chasing seven Fire often costs too much gold.

As a result, your board may become weaker. Therefore, three or five Fire is usually the smarter choice.

Best Team Compositions for Fire

Fire works well in many different team styles.

Popular options include:

• Adaptive teams built around Akali.
• Rapidfire teams with Varus as the main carry.
• Guardian frontlines using Shen.
• Warrior teams featuring Amumu.
• Slayer compositions with Kennen.
• Late-game boards built around Lux.

Since every Fire champion connects to another trait, building around Fire is simple. You can also swap carries during the game without rebuilding your entire team.

That makes Fire one of the safest traits for flexible players.

Final Thoughts

Fire is one of the strongest utility traits in TFT Set 18. It deals steady Burn damage, reduces healing, and upgrades your Shop.

More importantly, it becomes useful very early in the game. As a result, Fire improves both your economy and your combat strength. For most matches, reaching three Fire is enough.

However, players who naturally find Lux can still aim for seven Fire. Overall, Fire rewards flexible gameplay instead of forcing a single strategy. Because of that, it is likely to become one of the most popular traits in TFT Set 18.
