The Faerie trait is one of the newest additions in Teamfight Tactics Set 18. It gives your team more damage, better healing, and even extra gold. The mechanic is easy to understand. However, using it well takes good timing and smart team building.
Many players expected Faerie to become one of the strongest traits in the new set. It has strong scaling during combat and can improve your economy. Even so, the trait is not always the best choice for every game. In most matches, it works better as a supporting trait than a full vertical composition.
This guide explains how the Faerie trait works, which champions to use, and the best way to build around it.

How Does the Faerie Trait Work?
Faerie champions become stronger during every fight.
They attract magical Fairies whenever they deal damage, heal allies, or give shields. Every Fairy grants extra Attack Damage and Ability Power. As the fight continues, your Faerie units keep gaining more offensive stats.
The trait also improves survivability.
When a Faerie champion drops below a certain amount of Health, it restores Health based on the number of Fairies collected. Because of this, Faerie units can stay alive much longer than expected.
Another unique feature is the economy bonus.
After collecting seven Fairies, new Fairies can become Golden Fairies. These special Fairies give you gold. Therefore, the trait helps both your board strength and your economy.

Faerie Trait Bonuses
The Faerie trait has two main breakpoints.
2 Faerie
With two champions, your team gains:
- Bonus Attack Damage
- Bonus Ability Power
- A healing effect during combat
This bonus is simple but efficient. Therefore, many players activate only two Faerie champions.
4 Faerie
The four-piece bonus gives much stronger effects.
Your champions gain more Attack Damage and Ability Power. They also heal more during fights. In addition, Golden Fairies can appear after you collect seven regular Fairies.
Because of this, the four-piece bonus is strongest during the middle stages of the game.

All Faerie Champions in TFT Set 18
The Faerie roster includes five champions.
- Rakan
- Xayah
- Tristana
- Lillia
- Lux
Each champion fills a different role.
Rakan
Rakan provides crowd control and frontline support. He helps your carries survive longer while activating the Faerie trait.
Xayah
Xayah is one of the main damage dealers. She scales well with the extra Attack Damage from Fairies. She also fits naturally into reroll strategies.
Tristana
Tristana is another excellent carry. She is affordable and easy to upgrade to three stars. As a result, she is very strong during the early and middle stages of the game.
Lillia
Lillia is the primary tank. She can absorb a lot of damage while protecting the backline. She also pairs well with other frontline champions.
Lux
Lux adds magic damage and utility. She is useful for activating the trait and fits into several AP compositions.

Best Faerie Carry
Most players build around either Xayah or Tristana.
Xayah becomes stronger as fights last longer. The extra Attack Damage allows her to deal consistent damage from the backline.
Meanwhile, Tristana is one of the best reroll carries in TFT Set 18. She reaches her power spike earlier than many expensive champions. Therefore, she can help you win streak during the mid game.
Lillia is usually the best frontline unit. She protects your carries while benefiting from the healing effect of the Faerie trait.
Best Team Comps for Faerie
Although four Faerie champions are playable, most players should not force the full trait.
Instead, activate 2 Faerie and build around stronger frontline and late-game carries.
A common core includes:
- Lillia
- Xayah or Tristana
- One additional Faerie champion
- Durable frontline units
- Extra late-game damage dealers
This approach gives you more flexibility. It also makes transitions much easier.
Strengths of the Faerie Trait
Faerie has several important advantages.
- Strong scaling during long fights.
- Extra Attack Damage and Ability Power.
- Reliable healing.
- Bonus gold from Golden Fairies.
- Flexible early-game options.
- Strong reroll carries.
These strengths make the trait useful in many different team compositions.
Weaknesses of the Faerie Trait
The trait also has a few weaknesses.
First, the champions do not share many powerful secondary traits. Because of that, building a full Faerie team can feel awkward.
Second, the economy bonus is strongest during the mid game. Later in the match, extra gold becomes less valuable.
Finally, several late-game traits scale better than Faerie. As a result, many players transition away from four Faerie champions before the final rounds.
Should You Play Faerie in TFT Set 18?
Yes, but you should play it the right way.
Faerie is a strong supporting trait. It gives extra damage, healing, and economy without requiring expensive champions. Xayah and Tristana are both reliable carries, while Lillia provides a solid frontline.
However, forcing four Faerie champions every game is usually not the best strategy. Instead, use the 2 Faerie bonus and combine it with stronger frontline units and powerful late-game carries.
Overall, Faerie is not the strongest trait in TFT Set 18. Even so, it is one of the most flexible. If you build around its strengths and transition at the right time, it can help you finish near the top of the lobby consistently.
