Australia Start Fast but Egypt Strike First

Karim Hafez delivered a perfect cross. Emam Ashour met it with a powerful header. Patrick Beach had no chance. Therefore, Egypt took a 1-0 lead. The goal changed the game. Australia still enjoyed more possession. However, Egypt looked dangerous on the break.

Australia Find an Equalizer
Australia increased the pressure after halftime. The team pushed forward from the start. However, Egypt almost scored again. Omar Marmoush raced through on goal. Yet he failed to beat the goalkeeper.

Both teams continued to attack. However, clear chances were rare. Patrick Beach made an excellent save to deny Rami Rabia from close range. As a result, Australia stayed alive. The match then moved into extra time.

Salah Leads by Example
Mohamed Salah did not score during open play. However, he still played a huge role. Australia focused heavily on stopping him. As a result, other Egyptian attackers had more room to move.
Salah also showed great composure during the shootout. His Panenka penalty became one of the biggest moments of the match.
Emam Ashour also impressed. He scored Egypt’s only goal during normal time. In addition, he worked hard in both attack and defense.
