The LCK 2026 Grand Final between Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) took place on September 13. Naturally, the series attracted huge attention from League of Legends fans. HLE made a strong start and quickly took the lead.
However, Gen.G refused to lose control of the series. Instead, the defending champions quickly adjusted their strategy. From that point on, they controlled the next three games and completed a 3-1 comeback.
Therefore, the victory was about more than just another trophy. It also showed Gen.G’s strength, adaptability, and composure in one of the biggest matches of the season.

Game 1: HLE Make a Strong Start
The opening game was extremely close. In fact, the two teams battled for almost 40 minutes. Neither side could build a major lead in gold or resources.
Gen.G tried to create opportunities for Ruler to deal consistent damage. However, HLE defended well and constantly looked for chances to fight back. Meanwhile, Zeka and Zeus delivered several impressive individual plays.

The key moment came when Delight found an excellent angle to start a team fight. HLE immediately took advantage of the opportunity. The entire team followed up quickly and won the decisive fight.
As a result, HLE closed out the game and moved ahead 1-0.
More importantly, HLE did not look afraid of Gen.G’s Lucian-Milio combination. Instead, the team played aggressively and kept putting pressure on Ruler. Therefore, the veteran ADC had little room to recover the game by himself.

Game 2: Gen.G Strike Back
After losing the first game, Gen.G immediately changed their approach. This time, the defending champions entered the Rift with greater aggression. At the same time, they controlled the map more effectively and forced HLE to play defensively.
Chovy became the center of Gen.G’s strategy on Lissandra. His crowd control created constant problems for HLE. Moreover, his ability to lock down key targets made it difficult for the opponents to execute their game plan.

Whenever Gen.G started a fight, Chovy’s Lissandra often arrived at the perfect moment. Consequently, his teammates had enough time and space to follow up with their damage.
Kiin also delivered an excellent performance with Varus. He finished the game with a perfect KDA. Furthermore, the pressure he created forced HLE to give up control around important objectives.
As HLE slowly lost confidence, Gen.G continued to increase the pressure. Eventually, Gen.G finished the second game after around 30 minutes.
Therefore, the defending champions tied the series at 1-1 and completely reset the momentum.

Game 3: Zeri-Yuumi Put HLE on the Brink
Moving into Game 3, Gen.G continued to show an advantage in both drafting and strategy. In particular, the Zeri-Yuumi combination became a major problem for HLE.
Ruler received enough space to scale and complete his items. As the game progressed, he repeatedly found strong positions during team fights.
Meanwhile, Chovy handled the control and zoning duties. His performance helped split HLE’s formation and prevented the opposing team from reaching Gen.G’s backline.

As a result, Ruler and Chovy maintained a high level of impact throughout the game. HLE struggled to approach the backline or find a team fight that could change the momentum.
On the other side, Kanavi’s Cho’Gath jungle pick failed to create the expected impact. Gen.G controlled his movement and limited his access to important objectives.
Because Cho’Gath could not make a meaningful impact, HLE lacked another reliable way to create unexpected plays. Gen.G, meanwhile, continued to exploit every advantage.
Eventually, Gen.G secured a convincing victory and moved ahead 2-1. Therefore, HLE went from leading the series to facing elimination after losing two consecutive games.

Game 4: Gen.G Finish the Series Before 30 Minutes
Game 4 was the decisive battle. HLE needed a win to force a fifth game. However, Gen.G gave their opponents almost no opportunity to do so.
From the early stages, Gen.G controlled the pace of the game. Chovy and his teammates maintained pressure across the map. Moreover, they steadily increased their advantage as the game progressed.

Duro also became an important part of Gen.G’s success. His ability to protect teammates and start fights at the right moment gave the team’s carries more freedom to deal damage.
At the same time, Duro’s support helped shut down HLE’s final attempts to fight back.
Gen.G looked more confident with every passing minute. Therefore, they quickly broke through HLE’s defenses and pushed toward the finish.
Finally, Gen.G ended Game 4 before the 30-minute mark. The result secured a 3-1 series victory and completed their comeback after losing the opening game.

Gen.G Defend Their LCK 2026 Title
With the 3-1 victory over HLE, Gen.G officially became the LCK 2026 champions. This triumph gave the organization its sixth domestic LCK championship.
Interestingly, the 3-1 result also matched Gen.G’s score against HLE in their previous meeting before the Grand Final. Therefore, the result once again highlighted Gen.G’s strong record against this opponent.
Earlier in 2026, Gen.G had already won the LCK Cup. Now, after securing the LCK 2026 title as well, the team has completed another highly successful domestic campaign.
More importantly, Gen.G will enter Worlds 2026 as the LCK’s No. 1 seed. As a result, the team will have a major opportunity to represent Korea at the year’s biggest League of Legends event.

Ruler Wins FMVP Again
One of the biggest highlights after the Grand Final was Ruler winning the LCK 2026 Finals MVP award.
The Gen.G ADC delivered a strong performance throughout the series. In particular, his positioning and damage output played a major role in the team’s three consecutive victories.
Furthermore, this marks the second straight year that Ruler has won the LCK Finals MVP award. Therefore, his influence on Gen.G’s domestic success remains clear.
Chovy also added another major achievement to his career. Following the victory over HLE, the Gen.G mid laner reached six LCK championships.
As a result, Chovy continues to strengthen his legacy as one of the most successful mid laners in LCK history.

Gen.G Look Toward Worlds 2026
HLE certainly made a promising start to the Grand Final. However, Gen.G ultimately showed better adaptability and stronger composure across the BO5 series.
After losing Game 1, Gen.G did not panic. Instead, they adjusted their strategy, improved their map control, and won the next three games.
Chovy, Ruler, Kiin, Canyon, and Duro all played important roles in the title run. Moreover, the team’s ability to respond after a difficult opening game became one of the biggest reasons behind the comeback.
Therefore, the Gen.G 3-1 HLE victory was more than just another championship win. It was also a powerful statement from the defending champions.
With the LCK 2026 title and the No. 1 seed secured, Gen.G will now turn their attention toward Worlds 2026. If they can maintain this level of form, they will once again enter the global tournament as one of the teams to watch.
For now, however, one thing is certain: Gen.G remain the kings of the LCK.
